Some things you must know about using the DRA Interactive Mail List
In order that spam does not reach the mail list we have implemented these stop points.
- Only legitimate subscribers are allowed to post.
So if you sometimes want to send from a different email address, please ensure that your alternate address is subscribed to the mail list as well. - Address your email SOLELY to the mailing list – do not add other addresses
All email sent to the mail list, addressed as part of a multi-addressed email, where the mail list address appears in the CC header (carbon copy) or the BCC header (blind carbon copy), is stopped and rejected.
We are limited in the amount of space we have on the Internet and the membership is limited in the amount of patience they have in wading through unnecessary text in an email. Therefore -
- Message sizes are limited to 100 k and will be rejected if larger.
- Do not “forward” (fwd) entire email from other sources.
Copy & paste only the pertinent text and send as an original (citing the source if you like). - Do not quote the entire original message if you reply to an email and are sending it to the mail list instead of the original poster, . Please copy & paste a sufficient part of the original, just enough so the mail list will know the reference.
- Send the URL of document you find on the Web, do NOT send the entire document.
Always ensure you’re adding more “New” text than “old” text to the message.
A word about listserv etiquette …
The DRA Interactive Mail List is provided as a service to the neighbourhood to facilitate exchange of information and ideas amongst Dunbar residents. It is an unmoderated list, therefore all messages from registered subscribers that meet addressing and size (100K limit) requirements are automatically posted.
It is expected that all subscribers will be courteous and respectful in the messages they post to the list. While the vast majority of postings meet this expectation, the few that do not have caused concern.
In an effort to maintain the list as the positive, constructive neighbourhood communication tool it is intended to be, we request that subscribers keep their messages courteous and respectful. Specifically, please refrain from including content that is personally insulting, abusive, derisive, threatening, inflammatory, profane, invasive of privacy, illegal or otherwise injurious to, or disrespectful of, others.
The DRA Board reserves the right to remove from the list any subscriber who does not comply with these guidelines.
NB: The Dunbar Residents’ Association is not responsible for the content of any message posted on the Neighbours list.
