From the DVIC past chair …

Do you remember the “Vision” created by our community in 1998? The Vision is a document approved by the community and City Council, which details desired goals for community services and facilities, housing, shopping areas, transportation, and green spaces.

Our committee sees itself as the steward of this Vision. Since the committee was formed in September 2006, we have used the Vision to evaluate proposals for row housing at Dunbar Street and 39th Avenue, apartments at Balaclava Street and 41st Avenue, supportive housing at Dunbar Street and 16th Avenue, bicycle lanes on Dunbar Street and the City’s EcoDensity Charter.

After considering these, we have provided feedback to developers and the City’s Planning and Engineering departments.

It has been a busy time for us and it promises to get even busier in the future as redevelopment pressures inevitably increase.

Please come out to our Vision Open House to learn about upcoming proposals for our neighbourhood and discover how you can influence what happens here!
