About the DRA

The Dunbar Residents’ Association (DRA) promotes community spirit, informs residents about neighbourhood opportunities and concerns, promotes happy, healthy, and environmentally sound initiatives, facilitates meetings, and helps ensure Dunbarites’ views are heard at City Hall.

DRA hosts an annual AGM with a panel or presentation of interest to neighbours. This year’s AGM is followed by a federal-election candidates’ debate on Monday, October 7, 2019 at St. Philip’s Church hall. See our calendar for times and location. Dunbar Newsletter’s dedicated volunteers celebrate Dunbar with informative articles and local advertising. Published three times per year, it is delivered by hand to every Dunbar home and business by a group of 250 volunteers. The interactive Dunbar Neighbours Listserv is open to Dunbar residents and facilitates the direct exchange of ideas, information, and opportunities in lovely ways.

Members of the volunteer DRA Board of Directors and associated committees have a wide scope of expertise and utilize this to listen, foster community conversation, support initiatives, and act as spokespersons. DRA committees work to: Influence proposed developments on Dunbar; campaign for pedestrian safety; remove or at least mitigate hazards brought on by the new B-Line on West 41st; support the Dunbar Apartments community; improve the trees and planters in the Dunbar business districts; and enhance and foster communication amongst residents. Ongoing initiatives include Salmonberry Days, Dunbar Community Patrol, Walk & Wheel Friendly Dunbar, and Dunbar Earthquake Emergency Preparedness.

Membership in the DRA is $20/household/year ($10 if a household member is 65 or over). Donations are welcome and appreciated. Dunbar Residents’ Association meetings are open to neighbours. Dates and times are posted on our Calendar, or contact the board by phone 604-222-9824 or email info at dunbar-vancouver.org.
