Fire! A Walk with John Atkin

7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Meet at the corner of Camosun Street and West 19th Avenue

A walking tour with a difference. On this Salmonberry Days walk we’ll be exploring the history of fires. From the early days of logging activity in today’s Pacific Spirit Park there have been fires, the largest being the 1919 blaze which burned over 500 acres. We will be walking in Pacific Spirit Park to take a look at the surviving stumps which still bear the scorch marks

We are on trails not streets, so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for a couple of flights of stairs from the Camosun Boardwalk up to the forest level.
